Nanotech 100UPGv1

Ultra-Precision Aspheric Grinding System.

The Nanotech 100UPGv1 is an aspheric ultra-precision grinding system specifically engineered for grinding of Tungsten Carbide and Silicon Carbide aspheric optical mold inserts used in glass press molding as well as grinding of aspheric glass lenses. It is also suitable for single point diamond turning of symmetric optical components. The system is available in either a XZ or XZB configuration. It provides a 100mm diameter swing capacity for grinding applications and a 250mm diameter capacity for diamond turning.

The machine was developed with the latest "precision engineered" designs and components, including high stiffness hydrostatic oil bearing slide ways, state-of-the-art linear motor drives with sinusoidal drive amplifiers, on-machine CNC controlled wheel dressing and metrology measurement, an exclusive 10,000 rpm heavy-duty groove compensated air bearing work spindle and a 5,000-45,000 rpm air bearing grinding spindle both with liquid cooling for long term thermal stability. The machine’s enclosure has been engineered for total flood containment with a smooth gliding curved door for easy and complete access to the work area. Due to the high overall loop stiffness and exceptional quality and technical performance of all major components used on the Nanotech 100UPGv1, this equipment has been optimized to provide superb grinding performance. The optional Heavy Duty Oil Hydrostatic B-axis allows simple expansion of the basic two axis system to 3 axes of continuous path motion.

The 100UPGv1 combines many new advanced precision engineered components including our new PowerNC™ Windows 7 based HMI Controller, compact utilities cabinet with integrated hydraulic and pnuematic systems and an industry leading 8.4 picometer feedback resolution. The new PowerNC™ Controller with 22” wide screen format includes our industry’s first Touch/Swipe gesture interaction. It also features numerous added capabilities for highly efficient programming and overall machine operation at superior processing speeds over previous control systems in the industry.
