07.05.2012 | DKSH, the leading Market Expansion Services provider with a focus on Asia, and Germany-based InnoLas Systems sign an exclusive agreement covering the distribution of InnoLas’ laser systems to the solar panel industry in Japan. With this agreement, the companies are expanding their present partnership in Taiwan to take advantage of the expected long-term growth of Japan’s solar power market. InnoLas provides solutions for crystalline solar cells and for thin-film applications, including CIS/CIGS, CdTe, and α-Si/µ-Si.
Under the agreement, DKSH offers InnoLas value-added Market Expansion Services such as sales, marketing, and project management, enabling InnoLas to react quickly to local opportunities and grow its market presence as it leverages on DKSH’s well-established reputation and strong network in Japan. InnoLas Systems is a worldwide leading supplier of laser systems for micro material processing, particularly in the photovoltaic industry as well as for semiconductors, electronics, and precision engineering.
The Japanese solar power market is expected to grow over the mid to long-term as Japan’s new feed-in tariff scheme starts in July 2012, offering attractive returns for renewable energy projects. In addition, new construction for large-sized solar (mega solar) power plants are being planned. The improvement of conversion efficiency and reduction in production costs are critical issues that are addressed by many companies through a variety of new technologies in the development of solar cells. Particularly, the use of laser systems provides the highest potential for efficiency increase while reducing at the same time cost of ownership.
Richard Grundmueller, CEO of InnoLas, remarked: “Japan is a strategic market for us with significant long-term growth potential. The local solar cell manufacturers have very high demands on quality, throughput, and reliability. This matches our own philosophy of providing best-in-class solutions that give our customers a competitive edge. We are proud to be working with DKSH as this will ensure customers in Japan receive the outstanding consultancy and technical support that people expect from InnoLas.”
Dr. Peter Kaemmerer, President of DKSH Japan, commented: “We are very pleased that InnoLas has selected to extend their partnership with DKSH to Japan. InnoLas has extensively introduced its high-quality laser based equipment for crystalline and thin-film solar cells worldwide. They are particularly well-established in Europe, USA, and China, and enjoy in these markets a significant market share. We see great potential as well for InnoLas’s best-in-class products in Japan especially with the growing popularity and demand of solar energy as an alternative source of energy. We expect that many companies will be able to greatly benefit from InnoLas’ systems.”
