Successful partnership in South East Asia: DKSH and Nutrinova

The excellent industry reputation and network of DKSH Performance Materials in the beverage sector paved the way for DKSH (Philippines.), Inc. to gain endorsement for distributorship in the Philippines.

Challenge
In 2005, Nutrinova, manufacturer of high intensity sweetener Sunett, decided to work with distribution and marketing companies to ensure continuity of their business in Asia and expansion to new markets. DKSH was among the first companies in South East Asia chosen for the job, and DKSH Thailand stepped in to become the regional distributor of high-intensity sweeteners in a fiercely competitive market.

Approach
The excellent industry reputation and network of DKSH Performance Materials in the beverage sector paved the way for DKSH (Philippines.), Inc. to gain endorsement for distributorship in the Philippines. Cost issues on sugar, which is a main concern for most beverage producers; have been addressed with the complete or partial sugar replacement system of Sunett. Sunett products also appeal to food and beverage companies wanting to keep up with the increasing health and wellness trend through low sugar and low calorie products. Although a number of generic, low cost sweeteners are present in the market, DKSH customers remained loyal because they would never compromise quality and safety, to which DKSH and Nutrinova are totally committed.

Results
Business Line Food & Beverage Industry is a strong and reliable partner for Nutrinova, having grown their business by more than 50% in 2008, covering reputable key beverage manufacturers in the Philippines.

With the help of our food innovation center in the Philippines, which conducted the necessary application testing, Sunett sweetener is now used in formulated spice mixes manufactured by DKSH. With this encouraging development, Nutrinova is considering to expand further the relationship with DKSH in new territories and with additional product lines.
