The Hurco VM CNC mills are the perfect combination of size and functionality with an efficient design that conserves space and results in a compact CNC mill that has both a small footprint and a large work cube. With machine weights ranging from 5,800 lbs to 9,500 lbs, the VM Series is absolutely the most economical price-per-pound machine you can buy.

Our flagship VMX mills are packed with premium components and engineered for rigidity, reliability, and longevity. For example, the VMX mills have larger linear rails, pre-tensioned double-nut ball screws, a 12k dual-wound spindle, and high accuracy encoders.

We wedge lock the linear rails to a machined shoulder to increase rigidity and hand-scrape the frame mounting points. With an extra wide table that moves completely forward in the work cube, a generous Y-axis, and larger doors that give you more room to load/unload in addition to easy overhead crane access, the VMX mills support high-mix manufacturing.

Key Features

Even though the VM Series machining centers have a single screen control versus the dual-screen found on the higher performance machining centers, you still get the benefit of all the powerful features that maximize productivity. Some favorites are listed below.

  • DXF Transfer is the easiest and fastest way to get the part program into the control. Simply import the CAD image, select the desired features, and the WinMax control automatically creates the program. Eliminate data entry mistakes and save valuable time.

  • AutoCalc automatically trigs out the missing information from a print. No trig or calculator needed.

  • Program Interrupt stops cutting, retracts the tool, and allows you to jog any axis. With just two keystrokes, the tool resumes cutting right where it left off. Just like a true program interrupt button should behave.

  • Concurrent Programming makes it possible to program the next part while the machining center is running another part without interrupting the cycle.

  • Technology never stops and neither do we. Hurco engineers continually find ways to develop software features that increase customer profitability. A few of the most recent control features are highlighted below.


UltiMotionTM reduces cycle time by up to 30% while significantly increasing surface finish quality.

  • UltiMonitorTM allows remote monitoring of your machine from any web browser. See the control screen or video from a USB camera at the machine.

  • Absolute Tool Length allows tool setup to be independent from the part and machine, which means the tool information only needs to be captured once allowing the tool to be used on other machining centers. Facilitates the use of an offline tool presetter.

  • Tool Change Optimization is a new feature that analyzes the part program and automatically reduces the number of tool changes by rearranging the program for optimal efficiency.

 

 

With the high velocities and accelerations of today’s applications, machine performance must be carefully optimized in order to maintain accuracy over extended periods of time. The Hurco VMX Series of CNC mills delivers. It starts with a heavy, ribbed frame made of fine grain, high-grade cast iron. The double-nut, pre-tensioned ballscrews are anchored at both ends for increased accuracy and rigidity. A dual-wound 12K spindle delivers the cutting power you need.


The linear rails on all Hurco machines are larger, and spaced for increased strength. But their quality goes far beyond mere size. We wedge lock the rails to a machined shoulder, which makes the machine more robust, instead of simply mounting them to a single surface. The multiple design and manufacturing details we incorporate into a Hurco VMC increase rigidity and reliability, which means each VMX machining center will be the workhorse you expect.


The Only Dual-Screen Control Console in the Industry


Hurco is the only CNC machining center that gives you the added benefit of a dual-screen control. You can get the job done with a single screen, but the dual-screen makes everything faster and easier.

  • Data Block Search helps you edit a part program to correct a feature. Instead of searching through lines of code, you simply use the graphics screen to select the part feature you need to edit, and the corresponding line of code appears on the other screen so you can quickly make the change.

  • Concurrent Programming is another feature that is enhanced with the dual-screen control. While the machining center is running one part, you can program the next part without interrupting the cycle.

  • DXF Transfer allows you to simply import the CAD image, select the desired features, and the WinMax control automatically creates the program. Then check the part program on the screen with our powerful verifications graphics system that includes 3D solid rendering of the tool path with dynamic rotation and real time tool display. You can view the part from any angle without being forced to redraw it.
