Through this program, DKSH Japan not only aids local yuzu producers but also enhances the global reach of Japan’s yuzu by exporting high-quality yuzu products to Europe.
Tokyo, Japan, November 15, 2024 – DKSH Japan is pleased to announce its continuous commitment to sustainability through the support of yuzu harvesting in Kochi Prefecture. This initiative aims to address the significant labor shortages faced by yuzu producers while contributing to sustainable agriculture and revitalizing the local economy. DKSH has been supporting this initiative since 2021.
Strengthening Ties with Local Communities through Yuzu Harvest Support
Closely aligned with DKSH’s purpose of “Enriching People’s Lives”, this activity is a direct reflection of its commitment to its “Social Impact Strategy”, which focuses on making a tangible, positive difference in the communities where DKSH operates. Through this volunteer effort, DKSH not only provides crucial labor support to local producers but also strengthens its collaborative relationships, enhancing the sustainability of regional agriculture.

Rising Interest in Japanese Yuzu in the European Market
Kochi Prefecture stands out as a premier yuzu production area in Japan, contributing approximately 51% of the country’s total yuzu output of about 23,000 tons in 2021, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries . The unique flavor and aroma of yuzu have garnered significant attention in the European market, particularly in France, where demand has surged. Reports from JETRO Kochi reveal that yuzu exports from Kochi reached 744 million yen in 2022, marking a remarkable 74.5% increase from the previous year.
Since 2014, DKSH Japan has been exporting high quality yuzu juice and oil sourced from Kochi. In response to the growing demand, DKSH actively exports Japanese yuzu products to the French market. We are enhancing local distribution networks through DKSH France and expanding our product range to include yuzu juice, oil, and powder for diverse applications.
