When I first heard the phrase “headless technology”, perhaps like many of you, I was scratching my head as to what it meant.

Simply put, headless tech in digital commerce refers to a business strategy and software architecture that removes the front-end user experience from the system’s back-end functions like the shopping experience or the checkout process.

As retailers combine technologies like voice assistants, wearables and smart appliances with traditional channels like the web, social media or mobile messaging services, they can deliver an integrated unified customer experience across all available retail channels.

Marketers realize that as customer acquisition costs continue to rise, improving the digital experience and customer interaction for their brands has become the most important item on their checklist.
