DKSH's food blending facility goes green with switch to renewable energy

DKSH’s Business Unit Performance Materials serves business partners in the food and beverage industry with formulation and blending expertise from its dedicated blending facility in the Philippines. Starting today, DKSH operates the facility with renewable energy, thereby substantially reducing its carbon emissions.

Manila, March 29, 2021 – As a leading distributor of specialty chemicals and ingredients, Business Unit Performance Materials offers a wide range of value-added services in addition to its sourcing, sales and marketing, distribution and logistics capabilities. DKSH’s own food blending facility in Manila, Philippines compliments that service offering by providing expertise in the formulation and modification of food service products, such as sauces, batter and premixes.

In line with the Group’s increased focus on sustainability, the blending facility has switched to 100% renewable energy consumption, starting today. The initiative significantly reduces the local carbon footprint and contributes to the Group’s overall ambition to achieve climate-neutrality across all own operations by 2030. In the Philippines, DKSH targets to offer climate-neutral blending services over the next few years. Therefore, the facility is planning to convert its boilers to bio-diesel and will further intensify efforts to reduce the use of plastic and paper.

Romil Jagunap, General Manager, Performance Materials commented: “We are proud to switch to 100% renewable energy consumption, thereby substantially reducing our carbon emissions. With this move, we are on track to render our blending services climate-neutral within the next years. As a result, our tailor-made formulation services are not only leading in terms of quality and time-to-market, but also in satisfying our stakeholders’ demands for minimal environmental impact.
