Cutting-edge technology and smart parking solutions enable car park facilities to better reflect an exclusive business zone in Hong Kong.
The customer is a diversified global group with a presence across the Asia Pacific region. With more than 120,000 people worldwide, the group is involved in various sectors including property development, marine services, aviation, beverages as well as trading and industrial.
Challenge
The group was looking to upgrade and modernize its car park facilities and infrastructures located in a reputable business hub in the eastern part of Hong Kong. The business zone is spread over a seven million square feet area and houses over 300 multinational companies, many of which are listed among the Fortune 500 companies.
As the zone was being repositioned as a modern high-end lifestyle hub, the car park facilities needed to be upgraded and fitted with the latest technology and tools to reflect the zone’s stature. The project involves seven old buildings and one new complex, covering a total of 2,300 parking spaces.
Approach
The project involved three key phases: automated car plates recognition, parking guiding system, and integration of the new systems into the group’s overall management systems. For each phase, the key was to have good stakeholders’ communication in place to answer concerns, address their needs, and explore possible enhancements in their area of specialties.
Once we had refurbished the customer’s hardware and equipment layout, we focused on rejuvenating its software systems and adding new features for the “smart parking” solution to match the group’s strategy to reposition the hub.
Using digital tools, the system features centralized operational management, conversion of big data, enhanced user convenience, and a faster parking experience. We also conducted simulations, test runs and trials, reliability and stability checks, and system friction scans.
Result
The customer is leveraging new insights involving user experiences, daily practices, and data analytics in their operations. They are also benefiting from better management feedback and faster market updates since the project’s implementation.
The project is progressing well and continues to generate further innovative smart initiatives related to the car park facilities and management systems around it.
