About Ovaltine
Ovaltine is a nutritious and delicious drink brand enjoyed by millions of families around the world for its rich malt taste and nutritional value. The drink was created by Dr. George Wander, a Swiss Chemist, in 1865. It was a hot nutritious drink made from barley malt and egg to provide nutrition and help to strengthen under-nourished children. The new drink was known as “Ovo-Maltine” after its main ingredients, malt and egg (ovum). Later in 1904, George’s son, Dr. Albert Wander, further enriched the formula, combining the healthy barley malt with other nutritious ingredients like milk egg and cocoa, and developed the drink for commercial sale in England, where it was called “Ovaltine.”
