Media release
Hong Kong, February 28, 2018 – DKSH Business Unit Healthcare, Asia's leading Market Expansion Services provider for healthcare companies seeking to grow their business in Asia, is investing in its Hong Kong business by expanding its existing distribution center to include 13,000 square meters in the Mapletree Logistics Hub Tsing Yi. With the largest dedicated healthcare salesforce in Hong Kong, DKSH further commits to upgrading its end-to-end service solutions to its clients. More than 50 global brands will be hosted in the new healthcare distribution center. Certified with GMP and GDP, the distribution center is well positioned to welcome many more valued clients and partners.
With modernized automation solutions, this new facility is the next step in bringing high-quality, compliant distribution and logistics services to Hong Kong. One of the first of its kind in Hong Kong's healthcare industry, a fleet of 30 AGVs glides along the pressure treated floors of the state-of-the-art facility, providing support in picking individual pieces.
Each AGV weighing 130 kilograms, can carry up to 500 kilograms of goods while being able to navigate seamlessly within a dedicated area requiring no human intervention. This robotic system accelerates order picking while ensuring accuracy, with the ability to learn and autonomously improve placement of products to minimize direct travel. Together with the vertical carousels, which are ideal for smaller medical devices or piece-pick pharmaceuticals and mobile racking, which reduces footprint by up to 45% from traditional use of racking, the distribution center provides unrivalled distribution and storage capabilities.
The new facility is conveniently located within the limits of the Port of Hong Kong and is well connected to the city center, the Hong Kong International Airport and the Mainland China border via major expressways.
“DKSH has been the Market Expansion Services partner for healthcare companies, from pharmaceutical, medical devices to consumer health, for decades in Hong Kong. We continue to invest and upgrade our distribution and delivery facilities by using latest technology in the market to enhance quality and increase efficiency. The best-in-class automation will improve the value chain integrity,” said Grace Lau, Vice President, Healthcare, DKSH Hong Kong.
