For the eighth consecutive year, DKSH Taiwan has joined forces with the Chinese Christian Relief Association (CCRA). The aim of the “Shoebox Christmas gift Initiative” is to bring holiday joy to children from economically disadvantaged families.
Media release
Taipei, Taiwan, December 24, 2019 – DKSH Taiwan has launched a Christmas gift donation internally and received overwhelming feedback from its employees, who together contributed over 600 gifts this year. Through the matching of the donation by the Christian Relief Association (CCRA), these gifts were distributed to 29 locations of CCRA's after-school tutoring centers for disadvantaged communities to help them celebrate the holidays.
While most of the gifts were delivered via professional delivery teams of DKSH's Supply Chain services, the ShenKeng after-school tutoring center was visited in person by DKSH employees, allowing close interactions with the children. One of the DKSH employees who participated in the activity shared: “It was delightful to prepare the gifts for the children. You cannot imagine how much they were looking forward to receiving these presents. Seeing how excited they were opening them and how satisfied they looked when holding them in their hands, brought genuine happiness to my heart. Some children mentioned that they will share the gifts they received with their siblings when they go home. It made me realize the true meaning behind my participation in the initiative – passing on love.”
June Kum, Head Country Management, DKSH Taiwan indicated: “The Shoebox Christmas gift initiative is a very meaningful program. It gives us an opportunity to share our love and show that we care by preparing the gifts and writing encouraging messages to the children. The thank-you cards we receive from the children afterwards always remind us of how close we are connected to our community.”
James Shia, Secretary General, Chinese Christian Relief Association said: “We really appreciate DKSH's participation in the program. They have demonstrated their love and care for the children through their active and consistent involvement over the span of eight years and are truly a role model for our society.”
