DKSH’s Temperature Measurement and Access Control System solution helps businesses resume operations in a pandemic

During the COVID-19 pandemic, businesses, commercial buildings and public facilities across the world are required to take precautionary measures to safeguard employees and visitors at their premises. DKSH’s Temperature Measurement and Access Control System (TMACS) solution proved to be the perfect tool for the job.

The pandemic has placed enormous pressure on employers to implement new health screening procedures and safety practices in their workplaces within a very short time. Occupational safety and health officers had to implement the appropriate preventive measures to ensure a safe and healthy return for workers going back to the office.

Challenge

As the COVID-19 pandemic was unprecedented for most businesses, many found themselves without the proper knowledge, technology and even financial budget to quickly develop a system to fit into their operations.

Also, the biggest challenge for businesses reopening their doors was the additional manpower required to conduct health checks for all employees and visitors. With the use of manual procedures, it also increased the chances of errors during these checks.

Approach

The Temperature Measurement and Access Control System (TMACS) solution is an automated system that does not require any person to physically operate it and features various management tools. Aside from providing better manpower planning, maximizing operational efficiency and eliminating work duplications, TMACS helps to form an invincible barricade to provide better health and safety measures for businesses.

The TMACS solution can process high-speed monitoring in 0.5 seconds and accommodate mass crowds in a single scanning. On each person, the system immediately performs three analyses through its thermographic detection camera: facial recognition, temperature detection and mask verification. Upon detection of any abnormality, alerts will prompt the monitoring team to take the necessary safety and preventive measures.

This intelligent solution is not a one-size-fits-all off-the-shelf product. Its functionalities and applications can be adapted, tailored and extended to fit each customer’s specific operational requirements and safety needs.

Result

We successfully implemented the TMACS system at our distribution centers and warehouses in Hong Kong. The added value of using the solution was real-time safety data, highly responsive actions and that it was fully automated. This means fast evasive action could be taken before the virus can pose a threat to other personnel and business continuation.

Following these successful implementations, the solution is also being introduced in other offices and DCs, as well as commercial offices and government departments across Asia.

We are proud of Business Unit Technology’s development of the TMACS solution. This solution is not just a short-term measure but instead is an essential investment for a company’s health and safety policies. It will also be a crucial tool to help safeguard against future health risks or pandemics.
