Enriching People’s Lives Through Empowering People With Disabilities

The Malaysian government’s goal is to eradicate hardcore poverty by 2025. While efforts are continuing to further reduce the number of hardcore poor currently totaling nearly 130,000 households across the market, DKSH’s Famous Amos has stepped in to play its part.

Famous Amos was bestowed the Caring Employer Award (Private Sector) by the Department of Social Welfare Malaysia for providing career opportunities to individuals with disabilities. Among its initiatives included the ORCHID project (Opportunities in Rejuvenating Careers for the Hearing Impaired) to empower the hearing-impaired community by providing them with career opportunities.

Famous Amos was established in Malaysia in 1983 and later acquired by DKSH in 1997. With over 60 hot-baked stores in shopping malls and airports in Malaysia, our cookies are made with ingredients from the most renowned places in the world.

We also collaborated with Kechara Soup Kitchen on the Kechara Empowerment project to upcycle used staff uniforms into reusable multipurpose pouches. Kechara Soup Kitchen is a non-profit organization that strives to reduce homelessness, food wastage, and poverty in Malaysia.

At DKSH, our purpose is to enrich people’s lives. We do so by providing reliable access to high-quality and responsible products and services, creating sustainable value for our partners, and contributing to raising the quality of life in the communities we operate in by generating jobs, perspectives, and opportunities for people’s development and growth.
