Color is a decisive criterion when evaluating product quality. Schmidt + Haensch develops, produces and distributes Colorimeter for photometric determination of liquid color (Coloromat 100) as well as for automatic color grading of crystallized sugar by electronic reflectance meter (Saccharoflex 2020).
Both the Coloromat 100 single-beam photometer and the Saccharoflex 2020 reflectance meter have pre-installed methods performing sample analyses conform to ICUMSA standards.

The SCHMIDT + HAENSCH electronic reflectance-meter for the automatic color grading of crystalline sugar according to the recommendations of ICUMSA, method GS2-11 (1994)and GS2-13 (1994).
With this instrument the reflectance factors at 495 nm and 620 nm are measured and the ratio is indicated in terms of color type numbers. The measurement is done by use of Taylor’s law and an integrated sphere. To decrease measurement instabilities caused by inhomogeneity of the sample (e.g. different grain size)a great sample surface was chosen.
Only two standards of the Brunswick color type or ceramic standards, preferably 0 and 6 are necessary to calibrate the Saccharoflex 2020. An adjustment can be carried by using the keyboard. The Saccharoflex 2020 allows measurements up to 19.99 indicating units without further adjustments.
LCD display with 4-button keyboard makes handling easy and standard serial interface RS 232 ensures proper printing. The adjustable working voltage provides a high service life of the lighting unit and by this, large replacement intervals. In addition the electric bulb is run by a power saving switcher which prevents the Saccharoflex 2020 from heating up, so that a continuous operation is possible without any problems.
The consistent use of high integrated circuits, the little heating and the easy detachable lighting unit ensure that the Saccharoflex 2020 is a reliable and easy maintainable measurement system which corresponds to the high SCHMIDT + HAENSCH quality standard.
Available with ceramic calibration standards too!

The Coloromat 100 allows easy measurement of transmission, extinction and ICUMSA liquid colour units at the recommended standard wavelength 420 nm.
The touch screen is used for soft key functions and alphanumerical inputs which allow easy handling for example batch name, user etc. The wavelengths are selected via the touch screen. Three wavelengths are pre-installed as standards, optional the Coloromat 100 can be equipped with six further customized wavelengths.
This opens a wide range of applications . Due to the generous dimensions of the sample chamber the use of polarimeter flow through tubes up to 100 mm as standard cuvettes allows easy filling and a high through-put.
The sample compartment is open to the top and the bottom avoiding spillage to enter the unit. Due to its unique optical design the COLOROMAT is not affected by stray light.
The Coloromat 100 is equipped with a continuous measuring mode with free configurable sampling rate for monitoring color changes in product streams as a function of time.
The general operating software contained in the FLASH MEMORY can be updated by PC (data file downloaded from Internet or CD ROM) and has a capacity for 250 pre-programmed tests. Up to 230 tests can be stored in the RAM. The import of data by touch screen or PC are possible. Additionally up to 2970 results of max. 99 samples can be managed in the memory.
