Enriching People’s Lives by Reducing Product Waste Through Donations

Food wastage is a growing concern, particularly in Asia Pacific. According to the UN's Food and Agriculture Organization, over 50 percent of global food waste comes from Asia, while more than 515 million people in the region are estimated to remain undernourished, particularly in Central and South Asia.

DKSH Consumer Goods works with millions of FMCG items daily, including groceries and snacks, across Asia Pacific. In our journey to champion global products and food waste reduction, we have partnered with the Global FoodBanking Network (GFN) to recover and distribute surplus products in our markets in the region.

For example, in Hong Kong, we collaborate with Feeding Hong Kong, a charity organization that is also part of the Global FoodBanking Network. We work closely with various international client brands to donate surplus food to Feeding Hong Kong monthly. Through this partnership, over 68 tons of food are saved and redistributed to different charity partners each month, serving a total of 180,000 meals.

At DKSH, our purpose is to enrich people’s lives. We do so by providing reliable access to high-quality and responsible products and services, creating sustainable value for our partners, and contributing to raising the quality of life in the communities we operate in by generating jobs, perspectives, and opportunities for people’s development and growth.
