Challenge
To truly bring our mission of “Healthcare for All” to life, it’s essential that our patients, clients, and employees feel deeply connected to it. Patient Purpose Day was designed with this in mind—serving not just as an initiative, but as a platform to inspire and unify our teams and partners around a shared commitment to improving patient care. For DKSH Healthcare, our unwavering commitment to providing better healthcare for all through a patient-centric approach is at the core of everything we do.
Approach
We introduced Patient Purpose Day which is held annually each September in conjunction with World Patient Safety Day. Celebrated across our markets in Asia, it brings together employees, clients, and customers through a series of on-site activities aimed at enhancing patient outcomes and raising awareness of health priorities in each region. Each year, the activities center around a specific theme, for example, elder care in 2024.
One of the key success drivers of this initiative was empowering our local market teams to lead with autonomy. Each team selected activities, NGOs, and initiatives best suited to their local context. As a result, we saw a rich variety of impactful efforts, including health screenings, educational workshops, and donation drives. This approach ensured that every activation genuinely addressed real community needs while also encouraging broad employee participation.
To ensure smooth execution, we formed a special working team made up of passionate individuals from various departments. This cross-functional collaboration allowed us to pool expertise, resources, and insights—leading to an efficient rollout that allowed us to stay on track with timelines and deliver meaningful results.
Result
The reach and results of Patient Purpose Day were both impressive and inspiring. Since 2023 when we started this initiative, we have successfully mounted Patient Purpose Day Events across 11 markets, raising over CHF 72,000 in donations and positively impacting over 8,800 patients. Additionally, this initiative significantly boosts brand awareness and reinforces our brand purpose, with its news release being picked up by over 200 media outlets across APAC.
Beyond the numbers, Patient Purpose Day significantly amplified our brand visibility and reaffirmed our identity as a purpose-driven healthcare leader. It brought our values to life and connected us more deeply with the communities we serve.
