Open Goals – helping to improve the lives of vulnerable children in Thailand
Building on our long-term partnership with Right To Play, in February 2020, we launched an exciting program with Liverpool FC Foundation to improve the well-being of children, young people and communities in Thailand through sport and play.
The three-year program targets 2,000 children and young people as well as 1,500 community members in Thailand. It focuses on three main areas:
A partner in projects
DKSH and Right To Play have joined forces to improve the life skills of children and youth in Thailand, such as empathy, communication and self-confidence through sport and play. The partnership targets at-risk youths to become active agents of change in their communities.
The partnership, which started in 2006 as a response to the Tsunami two years earlier, has since expanded to various locations across Thailand, reaching over 33,000 children in schools and almost 400 at-risk youths in youth centers.
DKSH employee involvement
DKSH employees have participated in trainings organized by Right To Play and have co-facilitated large play events for children. The teams benefit from the unique play-based learning methodology, improving their teambuilding and leadership skills along the way.
Hosting of offices in Bangkok
Since 2006, DKSH Thailand has been hosting Right To Play offices on premise in Bangkok. This provides Right To Play with a local presence in a strategic location.
Right To Play is a global organization that uses the power of play to protect, educate and empower children to rise above adversity. Through over 18,000 trained teachers and volunteer coaches, Right To Play reaches an average of 2.3 million children and youth in 15 countries per year through its play-based methodology.
They play for change in five main areas:
